Lon is such a great friend of the DINKS and incredibly open about his journey in dentistry. About Dr. McRae: Dr. McRae graduated from Oregon Health Sciences University School of Dentistry in 1996. He has since built a successful practice in Meridian, Idaho receiving recognition as the best dental practice in the Treasure Valley. He is a respected lifetime qualified member of the elite Crown Council Dental Association, American Dental Association, International Academy of Dental Implants (IADI), International Academy of Oral Medicine of Toxicology (IAOMT), and International Congress of Oral Implantology (ICOI). Dr. McRae has been a clinical mentor for cosmetic dentistry with the Hornbrook Clinical Education Group since 2005. He has taught aesthetic dentistry both nationally and internationally. Dr. McRae has had his work published in many publications including The Journal of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is the President of the International Academy of Dental Implantology (IADI), a diplomate of the IADI, and a fellow of the ICOI. He is the clinical director of implants for Utah Valley Dental Lab as well as the developer of the One Stage Implant with Improved Immediate Loading.

(6-15-22) Likely one of the scariest moments for most dentists is when a trauma case calls you (after hours usually) and needs you to help put them back together. Join us for this week's show as we discuss dental trauma and best practices for managing those cases for patients. Rebeca Weisleder, DDS, MEd, is the chair and clinical associate professor in the Department of Endodontics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry. She earned a DDS from the Universidad Autonoma de Mexico in Mexico City and earned a masters in education from the University of Houston. She later received a certificate in endodontics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Weisleder is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. She has been involved in academia since 1990 and has delivered numerous presentations both nationally and internationally. She is a member of the American Association of Endodontics and the American Dental Education Association. Her research on endodontic diagnosis and treatment of young permanent teeth has been published in leading dental journals. After her blog post, “10 Reasons Your Dentist Probably Hates You Too,” went viral, she began connecting with dental professionals around the world who wanted more from their careers. This interview was incredibly eye opening on the impacts of biased research in the dental community and the constant quest for clinicians to find and implement evidenced based dentistry! Dr David Leader is an associate professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine where he is the director of emergency services and co-director of the DMD/MPH dual degree program. Dr Leader is a lead author of the Massachusetts Oral Health Guidelines for Pregnancy and Early Childhood, Massachusetts Department of Health, March 2016. He is a contributor to Carrasco-Labra, et al. How to Use Evidence-Based Dental Practices to Improve Your Clinical Decision Making, American Dental Association. Chicago, Il. 2020. Dr Leader is the chair of the education committee of the Massachusetts Dental Society. The goals of this conversation this week will be as follows: Learn how to identify sources of bias in scientific papers. Understand how authors and publishers may prevent bias in scientific papers. See examples of how industry may promote their products by managing research, publication of research, and influencing researchers and guideline committees.
