Send us Fan Mail The DINKS are back with another amazing guest this week! We had the honor of spending some time with Dr. Ed Zuckerberg. He attributes his early investments in CAD/CAM technology to helping to launch his son Mark's interest in computers which later lead to the founding of Facebook. So, he may know a thing or two about social media and investing in new technologies that will change the way we diagnose and treat patients. He's a great dentist in New York and has an exciting new venture that could really enhance the dental-medical relationship via evaluating the Oral Systemic connection. About our guest: Edward J. Zuckerberg, D.D.S.,F.A.G.D. is a 1978 Graduate of NYU College of Dentistry. He owned his own practices in Brooklyn and Dobbs Ferry, NY from 1979-2013 and has always been an early adopter of technology, introducing his first PC in the office in 1986 and completely fully networking his home-based office with broadband access in 1996. Dr. Zuckerberg’s early adoption of technologies including digital radiography, CAD/CAM & creation of a paperless office caught the attention of Industry leaders who enlisted him to lecture, write articles and beta test new technologies. The advanced technology in the home helped launch his son, Mark's, the founder of Facebook, interest in computers. With his wife of 43 years, Karen, a retired Psychiatrist, they also have 3 daughters, Randi, former Marketing Director at Facebook and now CEO of Zuckerberg Media, Donna, who received her Classics Ph.D at Princeton and is now an author and editor of the online publication, Eidolon, featuring a modern way to write about the ancient world & Arielle, who is a partner in a Financial Firm in San Francisco, as well as 7 grandchildren. Dr. Zuckerberg lectures nationally and internationally on Technology integration in the Dental Office, Social Media Marketing and the Oral Systemic Connection, and consults privately with Dental Practices and advises Dental/Medical Technology Startups in addition to treating patients part time in Cupertino, CA. Dr. Zuckerberg authored the chapter on Social Media on the ADA’s recently released “Practical Guide to Internet Marketing.” In 2021 Dr. Zuckerberg was named the Chief Dental Officer for Keystone Bio, an early clinical stage BioPharmaceutical Company dedicated to eradicating the known driver of inflammation and disease, Porphyromonas Gingivalis (Pg) present in the mouths of 50% of all adults. William Robbins, D.D.S., M.A., maintains a full-time private practice and is Adjunct Clinical Professor in the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School. He graduated from the University of Tennessee Dental School in l973. He completed a rotating internship at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas and a 2-year General Practice Residency at the V.A. Hospital in San Diego, California. Dr. Robbins has published over 80 articles, abstracts, and chapters on a wide range of dental subjects and has lectured in the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, Middle East, China, and Africa. He coauthored a textbook, Fundamentals of Operative Dentistry – A Contemporary Approach, which is published by Quintessence, and is in its 4th edition. If you have any burning questions about occlusion, sleep, airway, or just fantastic restorative dentistry, this is for you. This week is a real treat and we are honored to have Dr. Jim McKee join us. Dr. McKee has maintained a private practice in Downers Grove, Illinois, since 1984 and has experience treating a wide variety of cases with a focus on predictable restorative dentistry. He is a member of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and former president of the American Equilibration Society. He has lectured both nationally and internationally for more than 25 years, directs several study clubs and serves as an instructor for both the Piper Education and Research Center as well as Spear Education. Dr. McKee graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1980 and earned his dental degree from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry in 1984. All three DINKS had the honor of spending time with Dr. McKee at the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry!

This topic is so vitally important for the health and success of all practices whether FFS or in network. Travis has spent years gaining a deeper understanding of how insurance companies work and how to optimize your relationship with them. Dr. Travis Campbell, has been a practicing dentist since 2009, after graduating from Baylor University in Waco, Texas (2005) and then Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. Yes, Dr. Campbell is a born and bred Texan, and proud of it. But even more notable, dentistry simply runs through his veins. He announced he “wanted to be a dentist” after his first dental visit at the age of three, and never once changed his goal. Today, dentistry remains a passion. He still loves the clinical side of treating patients, yet early on he developed a similar passion for the business end of running a practice. In fact, before he graduated from dental school, he built a vision and business plan for 380 Family Dentistry in Prosper, Texas. At the time, the town of Prosper was a very tiny community well north of Dallas. There were cattle living across the highway from his first office! Dr. Campbell is now an author, trainer, speaker, contributor to various online dental communities, and dental coach and consultant. Ever an entrepreneur, Dr. Campbell purchased a second dental practice, in Garland, Texas in the fall of 2019. Send us Fan Mail Dr. Kois is legendary. Many have heard of him. Many have learned from him. Everyone that comes into contact with him speaks of how amazing he is. Rather than sharing a bio, let me share a little about his teaching style directly from the Kois Center website: When considering a postgraduate teaching program to advance your skills as a practitioner, it is important to recognize the vision that program has for you and your success. Dr. John Kois, director of the Kois Center, wants to “enable motivated dentists to achieve extraordinary levels, expanding knowledge and application skills in restorative dentistry.” This is an admirable goal that will only be achieved if the instruction allows you to succeed in both learning the information and applying the knowledge you have gained. The message has to first “reach you,” and then be accompanied by a realistic process you can easily follow so you can immediately make a difference in your practice when you return. John’s first passion is to see you succeed. One of the primary tenants of his philosophy is “integrity.” This is pervasive in all aspects of his teachings. First, all of the information delivered is based on independent scientific evidence reviewed at the highest levels. This ensures that its application will yield predictable results. He is also passionate about relevancy, so the material is updated as new research comes out and is implemented into his teachings. He accepts no sponsorships and is not swayed by companies’ agendas.
